#3 MK Elder Gate Train Station PCN - Car park split into different private owners, wrong one paid for.

Hi, the driver parked at Milton Keynes Train Station's Elder Gate car park. For context it is now understood the car park is split in 3 sections where the central aisle, in which you arrive driving down is owned by a separate private parking company. They parked unknowingly in Smart Parking Ltd's zone (not the central aisle) for which the signage is a up on a post, angled inwards making it hard to see as you turn into the zone and was missed. The driver paid at the only machine, believed to serve the whole car park (especially as the car park is all under the same name), but this was for the central aisle only. It is now now understood Smart Parking required RingGo payment, for a different code to that on the machine. The registered keeper who was not the driver at the time, received a PCN by Smart Parking Ltd. There is a large number of previous examples online of this happening to people, and the appeal is always denied at least the first instance, but could not find anything about taking it further. Any advice for this? Cheers.
