Look, I know I have to! The choice is between paying or making a representation. Given I would have to pay £70 anyway, I will make a representation...

Hi, thanks a lot to all for the feedback above. Just to clarify (I wasn't very exhaustive, I suppose), the grace-period for the discount has expired and now I have to go to the traffic penalty tribunal; I suppose I should try anyway. I have to appeal by tomorrow.

Hi there, thanks again. What you say makes surely sense. My original point, though, was that where I parked is not a Highway verge, technically, as Ipswich Counsel itself define a verge as the area between the carriageway and the pavement (and so do all the other documents I have found online) - am I completely wrong here?

I see, thanks. But where is the private property boundary here? I am also not sure I can exactly see what you meant on one of your previous posts, when you said the Verge is not relevant (sorry, I am just trying to understand).

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes, that's correct. I tried to post some other pics of the road yesterday, but they do not seem to have been uploaded....

6
Thanks for your reply. My point is that it is the Ipswich council itself that defines the verge as the grass between the carriageway and the pavement - that is not my case. Is that a verge, technically?

Hi, here is the PCN (I thought I had already....)

These are the relevant pics and PCN:

The following is the link to the Ipswich Counsuil document defining a verge (Page 3):

Another possibly useful document:

I hope this is of some help.

Thanks!

"Read the read this first sticky for instructions." - Where is it? I cannot find it (sorry!).

By the way, I forgot to mention that I intend to make a formal appeal (Representation), which is due by Friday, February 13th.

Hi,

I received a parking ticket in Ipswich, in December. I parked on the grass behind the pavement (it was just a wooded area, no houses/building anywhere near on that side of the road). There were no signposts about parking restrictions. After finding the ticket, stating: "Parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours", I decided to appeal informally (appeal rejected), based on the following grounds:

The car was parked on the grass without obstructing pedestrians using the pavement.
The grass I parked on is not a highway verge (even the Ipswich/Suffolk Council, in a document states that: "In this briefing paper “verge” means the area between the edge of the road and the edge of the pavement", which was not my case.
It is my understanding, from all the publicly available info/document, the double yellow lines, to be enforced must be adjacent to the grass where the vehicle is parked - I did park behind the pavement.

Could anyone provide some comments or advise on this?

Thanks a lot.

Gabriele

PS: I do not seem to be able to attach anything - it just asks me for an url....
