The sign means only EVs actually charging may park there.

You say you forgot to plug it in, but were you intending to charge later, or just parked thinking as it was an EV you could park and not bother charging the car ? I ask becaust I'm not clear what you mean by "forgetting"

I parked thinking it was an EV I could park without charging.

No times or days on the signs means 'restricted 24x7'

As you drive virtually in Streetview, the view changes date from 2024 to 2012, when the flats on the left weren't there. Even the 2024 view fails to show an EV charging bay. If you could post a photo of the sign, it would be useful.  Were you intending to charge, or were you under the misapprehension that EVs could park without charging ?

This is the (only) sign there:

Hi,

About 10 days ago, I parked my electric car in a designated EV charging bay but unfortunately forgot to plug it in. I have since received a fine stating that I was “parked in an electric vehicle charging place during restricted hours without charging.”

While I acknowledge that the vehicle was not charging, I believe the claim regarding “restricted hours” is incorrect, as there was no indication of any time restrictions on the signage next to the bay.

Could you please advise whether this is a valid basis for an appeal, and if so, how I should proceed?

Unfortunately, Google Maps does not show that exact location. When I try to navigate to it, the pin shifts to a point a few meters further along instead.

Many thanks

Hi,

A few days ago, I parked my car on a street in the Westminster area on a Sunday. While parking, I checked the sign on the opposite side of the street, which stated that parking restrictions applied only from Monday to Friday. When I returned, I found that my car had been issued a fine. I noticed that the parking restrictions on the side of the street where I had parked were different and required a residents’ permit. I made this mistake for two reasons: first, the most visible sign from where I parked was the one on the opposite side of the street, and I was not aware that parking restrictions could differ between the two sides of the same road; second, the residents’ permit sign for my side of the street was positioned further down the road and was not visible from where I had parked.

Is there any way to challenge this penalty?  :'(
