Hello,

I park my car on a council car park Monday to Fridaywhilst I work.

I pay for a 12 month permit to cover the cost of parking.

Recently my old permit was due to expire and I got sent a new one. I kept the new one in my car until the old permit expired. I forgot to switch them around and I received a parking ticket for having an out of date permit in the window. The parking wardens for the council do not have a device on their persons which can check what car have tickets/permits and as such, I have to keep my permit in my window permanently.

I appealed the ticket and this was rejected on the basis that they have already previously waived a parking ticket for me before. This was before I had a permit holder for my windscreen and I forgot to place the permit on the dashboard.

This latest charge is still within the 2 week reduced payment window.

Last night I was getting into my car after work and I found another parking fine that has come off the window and fallen down under my bonnet. This charge is outside of the 2 week window so now I have to pay £50. These fines are now going to cost me £75 before Christmas.

Parking fines are intended for people who don’t pay for parking when they should do – I do pay and I pay a lot of money for a 12 months permit.

Can I please have some advice? I really can’t afford to be paying out £75 before Christmas when I already pay for the permit
