Sorry if I should of said, but yes, I'm trying to better understand the rules around the placement of temporary cameras and when they are set for average speed as part of a potential defence - I really want to avoid accumulating any more points. There might be nothing in it, but I haven't been able to find anything other than it's down to the judgement of the engineer on site.

Grateful for any input - I was driving on the A46 Warwick Bypass when road works were in placing reducing the normal speed of 70 mph to 60 mph, and received a fixed penalty. I have since noticed not all road works with reduced speed limits have cameras to monitor enforcement. Who/how is it decided when cameras are required in road work zones? Some road works zones with cameras follow on average speed requirement - how and when is this applied, and why can it be inconsistent between road works zones?

Really appreciate any insight anyone might have. Thanks!!
