Of course you must tell the lease firm and I think given you have gap insurance you have nothing to worry about financially - is the car a write-off?
I would have thought the insurer will handle any issues with the accident bar personal injury unless you have personal injury in the policy too. You could have injury covered by other insurance or by your employer if you have a job.
Thanks, It’s been deemed a total loss and my insurers have asked for a settlement fee from the leaser which they’ve given today.
The hire cars insurance will cover the bill as it was the fault of their car whoever the driver.
I would imagine the police are looking at the hirer carefully to see if the theft claim can be substantiated or whether it was a cunning ruse.
Police are doing their investigation now, managed to get some CCTV but couldn’t make out their faces.
