That said it's a bit unreasonable not to have repeater signs for the single yellow lines. The zones are in a rabbit warren of streets. How are you supposed to keep track of which zone you are in and it's hours.

So fill in the online (informal) representation form on the website. A nice humble and contrite appeal for leniency. Below are some pointers.

I was mortified to find a PCN on my car, I always strive to obey the rules, I made a mistake, I mistakenly believed I could park on a single yellow line by displaying my Blue Badge and clock, there was no intent to evade a parking charge, indeed I did pay the parking charge, I'm terribly sorry, it wouldn't be fair to penalise a disabled motorist over an honest error, first time it's happened, it won't happen again, please use your discretion to cancel the PCN. And so on in that vein.

That's the plan - will update how I get on.

I assume you were on the SYL?

The BB guidelines that come with the blue badge suggest that you cannot park on single or double yellow lines in certain parts of central London including all of Westminster.

Westminster have a parallel badge scheme for disabled parking which restricted to Westminster residents (and workers ?), known as white badges

And in any event a BB holder cannot park anywhere in the country where there are loading restrictions in force. The DYL visible in the photos has visible double yellow dashes on the kerb, so that's 24 x 7 no loading. Are there any kerb dashes on the SYL?

I parked on the SYL, which did not have a corresponding plate stating what the restricted hours were.

I am familiar with Westminster White Badges - this is unrelated.

I am also familiar with the Blue Badge rules - there were categorically no kerb dashes along the SYL, which is why I was keen to get a photo of how far I was from the start of the double yellow line with kerb dashes.

I parked behind two cars which were also on the SYL (gone when we got back), displaying Blue Badges and mistakenly assumed the SYL was an extension of the RingGo Parking Bay on the signage, not least because there was no other signage showing restrictions.

The loading markings have been terminated correctly and therefore it was a waiting contravention only as shown on the PCN.

All I can see is a polite request for discretion at this stage.

That is what I'm beginning to realise. The lack of corresponding plate to highlight this was what confused me.

Hi All,

Would appreciate any help fighting the following PCN.
I took my son to London for a long weekend - on the Tuesday, we parked on Wigmore Street, on a single yellow line adjacent to a RingGo bay. I checked the signage and noted that Blue Badge holders must pay for parking (which I did, for 2 hours), and we receive an extra hour free, after the paid session expires.

I was uncertain about the single yellow line, so I checked the Westminster.gov site and screenshotted the section about Blue Badges regarding the kerbside plate:


Other than the 4 hour restriction and RingGo signs, I could not find any other signage regarding the prescribed hours. I assumed I'd be okay to park with my blue badge on display, as there were two other cars parked in front of me doing likewise.

My car was positioned directly in front of the parking bay (rear wheels were pretty much up to the line) - green arrow on the Google Street View shot.

We left to visit the Twist Museum round the corner and returned just under 90 minutes later, to find a PCN attached to the windscreen:

I could understand the ticket if there was another plate next to the single yellow line, specifying the restricted hours, but there wasn't.

I'd be grateful for any assistance in challenging this PCN - £15 for two hours parking felt steep enough, without having to pay a further £80 on top!
