Civil penalty charge notices (Councils, TFL and so on) / Sheriff Officers Letter Scott & Co for Bus Gate Fine

Morning - as this is urgent now since the sheriff letter was dropped through my door 7 days ago could anyone advise quickly what I should do to gain more time?
I will post all the details required later on today but I’m now being faced with a £267 fine when the last I heard was my appeal had been rejected (I didn’t come on here first sadly!) and I thought I’d appealed again then no contact at all (have checked me emails) then a sheriff officer letter?
I feel very strongly about this fine as the signage displayed was confusing, and though it’s a bus gate no actual bus route goes through it.
It’s more what can I do immediately to gain more time? Or better to pay if it’s at this stage??
