Hi all,

I'm wondering if I have grounds to dispute a parking ticket for Hackney. I have to pay by the 20th of Junuary in order to be within the reduced charge period.

I was driving a commercial vehicle and parked up two wheels on the pavement even though the double yellows allowed loading/unloading during the time I was there. I parked on the pavement because it was exceptionally wide and due the road although it two was traffic and I didn't want to prevent oncoming traffic as well as the emergency services as the hospital is literally round the corner and ambulances constantly are in use of this road. I was parked half on the road and half on the pavement. I parked up on said curb for an actual two minutes and had a ticket within three.

What's more painful is that the double yellow does allow for parking for commercial vehicles when loading/unloading so next time I know just to that.

Is there anything I can do to dispute this? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Also do you know if I dispute it, do you know if Hackney council will honour the reduced rate if paid within 14 days of a rejection letter?

Thanks!

google street view for context. I was parked up outside Mira express behind the lamppost. An as you can see from the sign when loading is permitted. I was there at 1041am. https://maps.app.goo.gl/1zWaq66k5P66grrE9
