Private parking tickets / Re: Trace letter out of the blue

There is never any legal obligation for the Keeper to reveal the identity of the driver. If anyone told you otherwise they are either mendacious or simply intellectually malnourished.

So, you received a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) a few years ago. You appealed to the operator and subsequently complained to the IPC. Did you also appeal to the IAS?

As for the debt collector letter from Trace, you can ignore that and either use it as kindling or to line the bottom of a litter tray. Never, ever, ever, try and communicate with a powerless debt collector. They cannot do anything.

Have you changed address at any time since you received the PCN and appealed? If so, did you send a Data Rectification Notice to the operator informing them of your new address for service and for them to erase the old address?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes that was my argument; Alliance Parking; at least at the time, required you to declare it via a checkbox as part of the appeals process. I have screenshots of it somewhere and have detailed it in some communication but the problem is at this moment I'd need to dig it all out.

I cannot remember if I appealed to IAS - again I can try to find out but it was just years ago. At this stage do I really need to take these steps and to start to prepare in any way or can I do as you say and just ignore the letters. (And is there a point where i need to take action).

I have not changed address since the PCN was issued.

Thanks

Private parking tickets / Trace letter out of the blue
« on: November 23, 2024, 04:02:52 pm »

Good afternoon everyone.

I have been sent a letter by Trace Debt Recovery on behalf of Alliance Parking Limited for a PCN for over 3 years ago (back in 2021).
As this was a long time - and we had a lot happening in our lives at that time - my memory is hazy. I have a box of paperwork that may contain some information but it will involve me having a good search for it in the loft or our storage unit, which I don't want to do unless it's deemed totally necessary.

This info I do have: I went to appeal, but the appeals process required the user to acknowledge you were the driver. I complained to the IPC, the DVLA and my local councillor regarding this as according to my research at the time this was against my rights to withhold such information. (IPC & DVLA never replied, councillor told me they contacted them).

Their letters stopped until now. Does anyone have any recommended next steps?

Thanks
