Private parking tickets / parking charge notice by NPC at my gym parking
« on: November 22, 2024, 12:27:57 pm »
Hi all,
I was given this PCN (3rd Oct; £100, reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days) by NPC for missing to register my car at the gym (Welcome Gym, Sutton, London) on 30th Sept. Upon receiving the PCN letter, I reached out to my gym management asking if they could get it cancelled as I have been a gym member for more than 7 years and this was the 1st time I missed registering my car (genuinely honest mistake). My gym management understood the situation and reached out to NPC to appeal the PCN and get it cancelled; however, it was going back and forth but they assured me that they were trying to get it cancelled and have also asked for the fine to be frozen till a decision was reached.
NPC no longer (I think since the past week or so) manages my gym parking.
Yesterday morning (21 Nov) I received a letter from debt collectors (dcbl) asking me to pay £170 within 14 days for unpaid parking charge else they will initiate legal action against me.
As of this morning (22 Nov), I have emailed NPC that this should not have happened as the PCN was under the appeal and being discussed; I also shared the email correspondence with my gym management as attachment, and copied my gym on my email. Response is awaited from NPC.
Given this situation, please could you advise the best course of action for me in this scenario.
Regards,
Raj
