Hi,

Just found out that there was also a green sign 430m ahead of the turn (Early sign) along with "PARK AND RIDE AND BUSES ONLY" painted on the left lane

I believe the traffic lights should have had a no entry sign with an "EXCEPT BUSES" supplementary plate rather than a blue arrow inviting to go straight ... but can this be defended with 2 signs suggesting the left lane becomes turn only?

Just got a phone call from DCB Legal ahead of the mediation. Of course I ignored it and let it go to voice mail.

Thanks,

This is my first council case and I've now read this section's instructions. My mistake!

I had only been on the private parking ticket section where instructions are "remove personal details (name/address, PCN reference number, Vehicle Registration Mark)"

"Leave all else in" includes your VRM and PCN reference number
Updated
(but it's the 1st time I see such a request on this forum).

Thanks very much for your input

There is no bus lane signage in place.
The 100m sign does suggest a bus lane ahead but not in the usual way: Only sign

the round blue sign is a traffic sign conveying a moving traffic contravention. The Council has wrongly accused me of a bus lane contravention. The correct description for contravening the sign is code 33 "using a route restricted to certain vehicles". As demonstrated by the aforementioned Annex A, a procedural impropriety has occurred as the wrong contravention description is stated on the PCN and for this it should be cancelled.
I suppose you're referring to the straight arrow below the traffic lights. traffic lights
The car did not violate that round blue sign since it did go straight ahead. I suppose the light turned green.

Please post all sides of the PCN (only redact yr name & address - leave all else in).
PCN1
PCN2

As I wrote, there's a video but the PCN says you need to go to city hall to view it!

Hello and happy new year to all,

I've just received a bus lane automated PCN. I was not driving.
These are usually hard to dispute but the setup looks like trap.

Bath Road (A4) has 2 lanes entering Bristol. There's a Park and Ride on the outskirts.

300m before the turn to the park and Ride entrance, it is advertised: First sign

230m before the turn, "PARK AND RIDE" followed by an arrow to the left is painted on the pavement, followed by a clean air zone sign and a bus stop: 230m before

Immediately after, 150m before the turn, a 2nd "PARK AND RIDE" followed by an arrow to the left is painted on the pavement: 150m before

Then, about 100m before the turn, there's signage showing that the left lane will become a bus lane ahead with enforcement cameras: Only sign

Then, 80m before the turn, a 3rd "PARK AND RIDE" followed by an arrow to the left is painted on the pavement, followed by a large illuminated sign indicating available spaces: 80m before

Then, 25m before the left turn, a 4th "PARK AND RIDE" followed by an arrow to the left is painted on the pavement: 25m before

Finally, upon reaching the park and ride entrance, there are traffic lights with a straight ahead arrow followed by "BUS TAXI cycles (symbol) ONLY" painted on the pavement: traffic lights

On the face of it, this seems like a lot of early warning BUT, it was a rainy night so I'm pretty sure the paint on the ground was invisible so the only real warning was the (unilluminated) sign 100m ahead. The PCN photos give a good idea of the prevailing visibility. PCN photo

Has anyone had any success disputing this kind of PCN?

Regards

Thank you for clarifying the fact that there can be back-and-forth phone calls between both parties.

I will attempt to get the details of Parkmaven's attendee during the actual phone call but, having searched the forum for mediation examples, I ran into a complaint reply by HMCTS which read:
"The mediator’s role is to confirm that each person taking part has authority to settle the claim, which was done during your appointment. While I appreciate that you feel that the claimant’s representative should have identified themselves, there is no requirement for them to do this, and the mediator cannot make the parties share their personal details."

Hi and happy new year to all!

HMCTS is busy on new year's eve. MCOL now says "You filed a DQ on 31/12/2025" (even though it was sent acknowledged on the 13th) and I've received a Mediation Appointment Confirmation for 18 Feb which I need to reply to by providing a phone number.

The confirmation email says:
"The mediator will call both parties separately – you will not talk directly to the other side. They will try to help you come to an agreement with the other party. If an agreement is reached at mediation the case will not need to progress to court.
Where your mediation appointment is mandatory, if you do not attend the appointment, the judge will take this into consideration at any court hearing and may issue a penalty. This could include the judge automatically ruling in the other party’s favour or ordering you to pay for some or all the other party’s costs.
"
The mediation does not appear to be classified as mandatory but I'll answer the call I suppose, although I'm not sure what to expect from this mediation.

Hi and merry Christmas to all.

BW Legal have just sent the exact same boilerplate letter, as usual ignoring all the replies sent to them:

"Account Details

Query Type: Send Supporting Evidence

29 December 2025

Dear xxxx,

They've already painted themselves in a corner so not sure it's worth bothering to reply. Or maybe the same reply as last time.

Confusing indeed. Thanks for reminding me. I've edited my previous post.

Let's see if they now go for the hearing. By the way, they still have not sent the contract or any evidence in support of their claim.

Hello,

DCB Legal's DQ finally appeared on MCOL and I've now received the paper Notice of Proposed Allocation:

"You must by 22 December 2025 complete the Small Claims Directions Questionnaire (Form N180) and file it with the court office:
the Civil National Business Center + postal address in Northampton
and serve copies on all other parties"

Even though this option is not mentioned in the documents received, I sent the D180 by email per your recommendations. I've immediately received automatic acknowledgements from DQ.CNBC and info@dcblegal

Hi,
All I can see on MCOL in the Claim history is documents I've submitted:
"Claim History
Your acknowledgment of service was received on  at
Your defence was submitted on  at
Your defence was received on  at
"

There's no mention of the claim itself and notices sent to me or to the claimant. Are these hidden somewhere else?

Hi,

DCB Legal did not attempt to contact me again but, exactly as expected, I've now received the following email:

"Good Morning

Having reviewed the content of your defence, we write to inform you that our client intends to proceed with the claim.

In due course, the Court will direct both parties to each file a directions questionnaire. In preparation for that, please find attached a copy of the Claimant's, which we confirm has been filed with the Court.

Without Prejudice to the above, in order to assist the Court in achieving its overriding objective, our client may be prepared to settle this case - in the event you wish to discuss settlement, please call us on 0203 434 0433 within 7 days and make immediate reference to this correspondence.

If you have provided an email address within your Defence, we intend to use it for service of documents (usually in PDF format) hereon in pursuant to PD 6A (4.1)(2)(c). Please advise whether there are any limitations to this (for example, the format in which documents are to be sent and the maximum size of attachments that may be received). Unless you advise otherwise, we will assume not.

Kind Regards,

They've attached a directions questionnaire (but I don't see it on MCOL yet).
Their answers are as follows
• C1: "YES"
• D1: "YES"
• F1: Claimant's home court
• F3: "1"

I've prepared my directions questionnaire according to guidelines but don't see the request on MCOL yet.
