An update: my dad received this letter today.
Any advice would be appreciated, so far we haven't responded to them as I haven't known what I should or shouldn't say.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been looking after my dad who was seriously ill.
I took the photo of the sign which is attached to a pole, the sign attached to a wall can be disregarded. Sorry for the confusion.

My dad said he was sent that first sign over Facebook by a family member, so it can be disregarded.
The 2nd sign is one I took myself so I know it's accurate.

Thanks, I'll see if I can get a photo of the sign that's next to the car. I'm pretty sure it's the same thing but it'd be good to make sure.
What should I advise my dad to do in regards to this dodgy parking charge?
Obviously he's not going to pay it and I've told him the only point he'd have to pay anything is if a judge told him to.

Hello, hopefully I've included all the relevant information.
The driver parked in a bay marked "Budgens customers only" between the times 16:26:11 and left 16:33:53 (shown on the PCN). During this time the driver said they think they checked their bank balance at the ATM which is attached to the shop/petrol station but can't remember if it was on a different day, they entered the nearby fish and chip shop briefly, then got in the car and left.
My dad is the registered keeper of the vehicle. I'm getting advice on his behalf.
I was under the impression there was a grace period of 10 minutes that a driver could potentially observe the signage and choose to leave or not, I'm not sure about that though.
