Ta muchly.  Friend has got antsy about parking there, even though enforcing would be ridiculous. It will be good to reassure him.

The Flame Pit / Dropped kerb query

As a matter of interest …

There is a dropped kerb nearby that once served the drive of a large house.  Said house has now been demolished and redeveloped, access is now in a different place.  The old dropped kerb still exists but leads nowhere (well, to a brick wall).  Is it still illegal to park across it?

I use that road regularly and have spotted vehicles parked on that stub. It clearly is a stub, rather than a nonfunctional road.  The kerb is yellow lined. In order to park there the driver has to ignore the bollard, but I don’t think it has a keep left sign on it. It’s hard to see that parking there causes any sort of obstruction to road traffic but it does inconvenience pedestrians with wheelchairs/walking frames/buggies wishing to cross the road using the dropped kerbs.

Will be fascinating to see the outcome.

Speeding and other criminal offences / Re: Close pass

Can’t tell much from the photo, but worth remembering that it isn’t just about the distance as you pass a cyclist, it’s also about moving back to your lane too quickly.  Some motorists seem to forget that the cyclist is moving and treat them as a stationary object.
