Civil penalty charge notices (Councils, TFL and so on) / London ULEZ PCN

Hey everyone, first time spilling my beans here!
So, here's the scoop. I'm a Southampton lad and I roll into London once a month, usually just for a day. Not long ago, I traded my old petrol car (which was cool with the ULEZ rules) for a new diesel one. On my last trip, I kinda goofed and entered a ULEZ zone twice - once at night and again the next morning.
Of course, this didn't fly under the radar, and I ended up with two PCNs, each slapping me with a £90 fine. I tried to reason with the TFL guys, explaining that I've never slipped up before (never even had a parking ticket!), and this was an honest-to-goodness mistake since my old car was ULEZ friendly.
I also asked them if they could possibly lighten the fine a bit. They wanted to see the V5C forms for my cars to verify my tale. But, no dice. They turned down my appeal, saying there was plenty of information around warning that I was about to enter a ULEZ zone.
So, I'm thinking of appealing again. What do you guys reckon?
Cheers in advance for any advice. £180 feels pretty steep for an honest blunder, don't you think?
