The Flame Pit / Scratches after Tesco self wash
« on: April 21, 2026, 06:14:10 pm »
hi folks
Very hell raising dilemma has arisen and not sure who to blame. 11 years old japaneese car was bought few months ago obviously with naturally occurring marks on it. But now after using tesco thorough soapy jet wash (self wash), few more scratches are now visible. Prima facie, it has been caused by tesco's faulty soap brush. But still it is coming to mind that maybe the seller had used filler/wax/polish which now is expunged. Should tesco be contacted for compensation or their pump service provider or simply buy paint to repair scratches by myself with the resolve to never use self wash again except water jet which operates from far.

Is "Britannia rescue" a good brand who uses local network of garages instead of having own vehicles.

hi folks
I know everyone will have varying experiences about their breakdown cover's provider. But still there must be somewhere consensus that who is much better than others. As we all know that there are couple of big brands who have their own patroling team. On the other hand there are breakdown cover providers who uses local garages. So, which one ideally should be preferred  given the fact that latter one is amassing more positive reviews (not sure why).

The Flame Pit / Yellow box on T junction
« on: October 02, 2025, 03:24:45 pm »
Hi folks,

In one of the poorest council in East London, one yellow box junction has recently been launched with false hope to discipline the drivers. Usually you can stay on this box to turn right while giving the clear path to incoming traffic. But how about T junction where there will be no incoming traffic except the traffic on your right & left. Can you legally stay on yellow box junction while letting the traffic on your left to pass before you turn right.

It's real situation not hypothetical. If it is difficult to prove that you have received notice later than 14 days then how the parking company can prove that they have genuinely sent on the date that they printed on notice. These notices aren't sent by recorded delivery or even with the first class stamp but through cheapest means.

6
Thanks. How about the paragraph 9(2)(f) of schedule 4 of protection of freedom act 2012, if the notice has been served under that but has been received well beyond to 14 days. In that case how to prove that the notice arrived considerably later than the assumed date that it should have been reached within 2 days from the date of dispatch.

7
If the notice is given under paragraph 9(2)(f) of schedule 4 of protection of freedom act 2012, then if that parking charge arrives after 14 days then would that be valid?

8
By the way is there any cap on number of penalties which can be issued if the car is not moved. How about if private parking company registered with IPC try to issue multiple penalties then would not it violate the IPC code of practice when challenges.

9
tenancy agreement is silent about parking but management did give notices few months ago of introducing the private parking company. And the management company is a freeholder of the block of flats and is private ltd perhaps comprise on couple of people. Worth mentioning that parking company is IPC affiliated and can take data from DVLA. Can these companies follow all the way to court after threatening letters.

Its a rented property with periodic tenancy agreement and tenancy agreement is silent about this. But I have been parking there from 6 years in front of my ground floor flat and these parking bays are inherently belong to this block of flat. It has recently been started enforcing and the management company issues one permit per flat without specially enrolling the registration number of the vehicle. According to signage, the permit must be displayed at all times which implies that even if you forget then will be slapped with penalty. So, is there any way to challenge it because according to people reviews they always refuse your appeal and keep on sending you bailiff notices.

hi folks

There are parkings bays in block of flats which were unenforced earlier but now they started enforcement by issuing penalties to unauthorized drivers including those who live there but forget to display parking permit. Is there any way to appeal if you lives there but forget to display the permit. Also can these types of parking companies take you to court for registering CCJ against you if you contest the fines until the end but lost. The said parking company is registered under Approved registered scheme and can liaise with DVLA to access the driver details. According to the reviews about this parking company, that is their kneejerk approach to issue the penalties. Should this penalty be ignored after appeal rejection which most probably they will incline to do. Are they permitted to issue more than one penalties if the car remain there?

speed.

with above imperfections & faults how best to dispose off this legend car for better price. Because scrap value is around £120-150 which is too little. What alternative is of scrapping or selling to private buyer/trader?

2. At all speeds and sometimes previous mileage disappear.

Hi folks,
If a 20 years old 1 litre Japanese car is still running with three 3+ months of mot. Should it be scraped if it has following weakness. It's scrap value is just £130 which is disgrace because it is still drive able.

1. Oxidized paint on bonnet & roof
2. Speedo meter displays 4-5 miles inaccurately
3. Left mirror has been replaced with glued one but it's working & serving.
4. Water reservoir sometimes goes off.
5. In hot summer acceleration slows down.
