Waltham Forest - 2 PCN's in 24hrs Unclear road markings?
« on: »
Road - Langthorne Road E11 ( around 3 Langthorne Road)

I was aware there was restricted parking down this road but was unaware exactly where as the road markings are not clear.

My car was left here from 24/08 - 28/08.

When collecting my car there was no physical tickets on my windscreen so I only found out about these PCNs until they came in the post so was unaware.

If I had known about these two I would never of parked here again. I recently parked in the same place since and got a ticket and paid it within the 14days. Since this I have never parked there since.

Is there any grounds I can appeal this? I've never appealed a PCN before

If you're going to argue the bay markings are faded too much, you'll need to take photos of them because GSV is dated December 2020, nearly three years ago.  The markings will probably be passed as OK by an adjudicator if the GSV view is the same as now.  There is also a sign; did you go and look at it ?

Looking at the dates on those NTOs I would do something very quickly.

I would be challenging both with an apologetic ooops,  I parked here without realising that I was in a restricted bay because of poor marking and found no PCNs on my return so could not challenge earlier, that the second one was a continuous contravention as the vehicle was not moved and please would they exercise discretion and cancel that one anyway.

Can't guarantee it and they don't say it but many councils nowadays seem to re-offer discount if a Formal Challenge is received within 14 days (beginning with date of service)..... which means today.

Unlikely to get both cancelled, may get one, may get discount offered?

See what others may offer

This is a controlled parking zone, so there are no unrestricted roads, you can only park within a marked bay.

I would go with DancingDad's suggestion and hope that they at least reinstate the discount.
