Hi again, I received a PCN for going through a motor prohibition sign without knowing. Here is the PCN...





There is also a video but I'm not sure how to paste the clip on this site.

From my knowledge, there is a restriction from one side of this sign. There is no restriction when coming from the back of this sign. I had a delivery the national theatre but was trying to find the stage door which I found out its on a road called stage door avenue. When I realised I was already past it, I decided to do u-turn immediately and unfortunately I did it just past this sign. As mentioned before, I believe there is no sign when coming from one direction so as I decided to do the u-turn, I was not aware of any restriction.

As I finished my 3 point turn, I went through the sign. At present, I can't recall seeing the sign as I went past it.

Still trying to work out through my head, exactly how this happened. Normally, I would do a u-turn where there is space to do so. I'm guessing I thought I had enough space to do the turn without checking n( obviously I checked for pedestrians and cyclist etc). Anyway, is there a chance I can appeal as I don't recall seeing the sign as I went past it?

This is a rather odd traffic arrangement. You came up Upper Ground, and passed Stage Door. Then realising your mistake, you turned round and drove back, but the street is open to all traffic in one direction, but traffic from the other direction just after passing under Waterloo Bridge, is restricted to local buses. So you would have been unaware of the traffic restriction until you turned round and drove back to get to Stage Door.

A difficult one to call, so wait a bit until others have commented. However, if you take them to London Tribunals, I don't think you have a powerful appeal, although you could point out there is no warning at all that the street is essentially one-way for all traffic bar local buses.

Hi guys, I completely forgot about this pcn and done a appeal after 28 days. The appeal was rejected and I'm now willing to pay for it but the discount rate has now finished. They now have given me a choice of paying the fine of £160 or to appeal to the traffic adjudicators. What do you guys recommend?

Well, of course you take these rapacious and venal administrators to London Tribunals ! The PCN penalty remains the same and there are no additional costs. You have a reasonable appeal argument, so it could go either way.
At least if you lose they will have had to do at least some work for their money, and they have to pay the adjudication fee out of it.

Thanks for the response. I will take it to the tribunal. Whatever the result, it will be a big learning curve
