Clarendon rise car park in lewisham.
73u parked without payment

The carpark has been free for motorbikes for about 10 years. That apparently changed a few months ago.
On sunday 01/09/24 i rode in and parked in the motorbike bay. Its been a while since i parked there and as it is now cashless i looked around for signs to see if i must pay. I walked to the main entrance sign and read it twice looking to see any mention about motorbikes which i didnt. On monday i parked again at 9.40am until 11am and on my return had the PCN. Later examining both photos i noticed the sign in the bay which is about 8ft in the air had a second code for motorbikes stuck on but a lot smaller and hard to see the main sign at the entrance had the same motorbike code in the green box on the left taped on which i did not notice.
when installing and checking the app my motorbike costs 80p an hour to park but no tariff is shown for motorbikes on the sign. also the main entrance is in a side road and everyone uses the side entrance which take you into the middle of town. Also having found reviews for the carpark i have come across it happening to another biker who said multiple bikes were ticketed alongside his.

In a separate thing i have made a complaint to the council about the signage or lack of. The bay has a fence that could easily hold a sign saying bikes must now pay. The sign in the bay should be lower and the motorbike code be the same size as the car one or remove the car one as there are plenty of car only ones around the car park. The main sign should state that motorbikes must now pay and along with the tariff section show the tariff for motorbikes and scooters

The signage is so poor it seems like very intentional entrapment. Being that the code is taped on the main sign it could be added or removed at any time. I Haven't paid them but sadly i appealed the same day and supplied the photos and explained the issue. What are peoples thoughts on this.
Yes i dont want to pay but more than that i really want them to add some signage as they are ripping bikers off.
I didnt go shopping for 2 hrs with the hope i would save £1.60 and chance not getting a fine.
I have requested the cctv for both days showing me checking the sign on sunday and rechecking it on monday after i got the ticket to use on appeal if it goes further.
I assume that if it fails this first appeal i can appeal further but will have to pay the full amount if i lose this also seems a good way to force people to give up and pay

Motorcycle payment parking has clearly been very badly introduced. They haven't even put the motorcycle charges on the car park sign, so I would take them all the way to London Tribunals if it were me. The large board governs the use of the car park, so the tariff board must include the motorcyle charges, no ifs or buts.

I thought the same because at the start it says check the tariff but there isnt one. I might understand if bikes paid the same as car but the tariff is different also looking at the tape holding the motorbike sticker on its dirty behind the tape like it has been removed and put back a few times. But it was the one in the bay that got me im going to get another photo tomorrow as im passing that way to see how easy or hard it is to read when standing closer.
