Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out for some advice and assistance regarding a recent PCN I received for contravention code 52G in the Rotherhithe Tunnel (failing to comply with a prohibition on certain types of vehicle).
On the day in question, I was on my way to assist a friend who was experiencing car trouble. I was following my sat nav, and although I did see a sign restricting vehicle access, the vehicle shown in the sign appeared to be a Luton van, which led me to believe my van was not restricted.
Due to the heavy traffic and the layout of the road (one-way and with no safe way to turn around), I had no choice but to continue into the tunnel to avoid causing disruption or a potential hazard to other motorists.
I’d also like to clarify that although my van (vw transport t5)is technically a commercial vehicle, it has been converted into a people carrier. Additionally, I’m already paying the daily ULEZ charge as I currently cannot afford to replace the vehicle, which makes this PCN even more disheartening.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance, tips, or sample appeal letters from those who may have been in a similar situation. I’m hoping to put together a strong appeal and any help would go a long way.
Thank you in advance!
