Hi, I had been parking in a residential street zone for over a month as the sign had been obscured. I parked there again on September 2nd, and at this time I believe I checked and the sign was still obscured. The next day I did not leave my house so did not check my car. On September 4th I went to my car and saw two tickets (below). I went and looked and the sign appears to have been replaced between when I parked on the 2nd and when I recieved my first ticket on the 3rd.

Do I have any recourse to challenging one or both tickets seeing as I had parked before the sign was replaced? I imagine this one is pretty cut and dry, just wanted advise on if it's worth challenging and also for, if I park where signs are obscured again in the future, what evidence I can use to challenge future incidences of this.

I've not included a street view as the parking zones have changed since the last street view was taken and I don't believe it impacts the issue I'm hoping to contest.

Thanks so much.

New sign, installed sometime between Sept 2nd after 6 pm and presumably Sept 3rd 12:10 when the first contravention was observed.

You can try asking for discretion on the second and pay the first.

You can also try that the PCNs are not for the correct contravention - should be code 16 general permit as there is nothing on the sign that says resident.

Thanks for the response - in terms of asking for discretion any advise on this? I've clicked through the challenge PCN option on the council website, am I'm guessing I'd be challeging on "I wish to challenge this PCN for other reasons" and my explanation would be to include the photo of the obscured sign and:

"When I parked on the night of 02/09/2025 the sign was obscured. I did not return to my car until 04/09/25 where I saw two parking tickets and observed the sign had been replaced. I'm asking discretion to pay only one of the tickets as when I parked I could not have determined the type of zone I was parked in and was caught out by the sign replacement"

Something like that? Thanks again!
