I am a resident in East Finchley and have had resident parking every year I have lived there and with two previous vehicles. Over the past 12 month the council has moved application for resident parking over to the Miparking app.

I recently changed vehicle a third time and attempted to update my permit through the MiParking system on Sunday 8 March so that the permit could be transferred to the new vehicle.

During this process I discovered that the MiParking system does not allow vehicle changes to an existing permit and that the only option was to cancel the existing permit and purchase a new one.

I got the keys to my new car on the saturday and due to it being a Tesla I was not able to give my current inurers the registration until I picked the car up. WIth it being the weekend they could not confirm if they could switch my insurance over to the new car until the next week. As things turned out they could not so I had to get a new provider.

I contacted MiParking support and began the process of cancelling the old permit and arranging a replacement permit for the new vehicle. As the new vehicle is a lease vehicle, the only documentation Miparking would accept as proof and a new permit could be issued was a copy of the new insurance certificate - which took a few days to come through.

Unfortunately the PCN was issued during this short administrative transition period before I was able to complete the new permit application.

I have been a compliant resident permit holder and made genuine attempts to update my permit as soon as the vehicle changed. I have attached email correspondence and receipts confirming that I attempted to update the permit on 8 March, before the PCN was issued.

Given that I was a legitimate permit holder and was actively attempting to update the permit for my new vehicle, I already respcutlly requested that Barnet Council cancell the PCN.

The have since rejected my appeal - I insert images of the original PCN, proof that I was trying to sort this permit with miparking and their rejection letter.

This is a footling matter for an hour long commuter restriction. The tribunal would usually only find for you if the new permit was delayed at their end.

Our member @mrmustard knows Barnet well and may be able to this sorted.

My objection is couldn't you have covered with a visitor permit in the interim.

Thank you - yes in hindsight I should have doen that but I thought that mipermit would respond back and we could have reslolved it but they never did. And by the point I called them back and got the ball rolling I had already been served the PCN.

I'll wait to hear form Mr Mustard. He's the man!
