Hi all,

I'm the latest to be stung by the restricted section of road around Lansdowne Drive and Trederwen street in Hackney. I have received 2 separate PCNs, one for driving into the restricted area and another for driving out of it.

Would love to know if there's any avenue to appeal here, or even to get it reduced down to just 1 PCN from 2. Since there was not other way for me to exit the restricted area other than via the way I came, meaning that it wasn't possible to avoid a second PCN.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Can you explain the time difference of the two PCNs, (16.19 to 17.25), please.

Hi, one PCN is from driving into the restricted area, the other is from driving out of the same restricted area.

Yes, I understand that, but the time is 44 minutes.  Were you visiting somebody ? We need to know in case there is an exemption for access to premises or houses.

Ah! My apologies, I misunderstood. I was taking my wife and MIL for lunch in Broadway Market. Drove into area, parked up and paid. Then drove out again after we were finished. Have driven this way many times before, but always on a Sunday when restrictions not in place.

It's not true you had to go back through this restriction, which is essentially a timed bus gate.

We had success here when it was first introduced on a couple of factors now long gone.

Hippo may have something on PCN or website wording.

Otherwise I'd suggest paying the first and asking for discretion on the second.

Where were you going and what for?

Oh really? I saw a restriction sign the other way down the road (on corner of sheep lane and westgate street) when i checked on google maps, but to be fair i didn’t actually check if there was a camera that way. Now that i look at it again i think it just announces the upcoming bus gate you’ve described. Makes it extra annoying that I managed to drive through it twice then! (actually had never heard of a bus gate until just now)

I was taking my (heavily pregnant) wife and mother in law out for lunch. Not sure that gets me any extra credit in an appeal though 😬

Unfortunately not.  London council enforcement departments seem to be staffed by people who have hearts not just of stone, but of granite.
