Hello everyone. I parked in this bay for about a minute maybe even less.

GSV location

I saw a car already parked there so assumed it was ok. I got out of the vehicle and went to find the shop I was delivering to which was right there. I walked back to the vehicle and then saw the sign and realised I was not allowed to park there so I got back in my vehicle in a hurry and drove off. Surely, I shouldn't have to pay a £80 just for making a mistake?

Unfortunately, mistakes is how TfL make millions from motorists !  It is a No Stopping contravention, so one minute is an eternity. Why didn't you read the sign before you went to the shop ?

Difficult to suggest what to put in your reps, but if it was a commercial delivery, say that you were a busy delivery driver, and was making a delivery.

Ok I will give it a try. Seems very unfair but if they refuse the appeal then I will just accept it

@bertie21980 no, that's not how it works. TFL will reject your representations no matter what you say, however all their PCNs can be beaten at the tribunal based on various technical arguments, and even if you lose at the tribunal you still get to keep the discount as long as your appeal is filed promptly.

Just let me know if you get a notice of rejection and I'll explain the next steps. Remember that TFL is banking on the fact that if they just reject everything, 99% of people will give up at that point.
I practice law in the Traffic Penalty Tribunal, London Tribunals, the First-tier tribunal for Scotland, and the Traffic Penalty Tribunal for Northern Ireland, but I am not a solicitor or a barrister. Notwithstanding this, I voluntarily apply the cab rank rule. I am a member of the Society of Professional McKenzie Friends, my membership number is FM193 and I abide by the SPMF service standards.

cp8759 is, indeed, a Wizard of the First Order

Ok I will do. I will write it up tomorrow and see what happens

Thanks for the recommendation guys. TFL has showed some sympathy and cancelled the ticket. Must admit that I was a little surprised but I'm very pleased  :)

appeal response

Very well done indeed ! TfL rarely "breath out" so you've done well.
