Free Traffic Legal Advice

Hi

I received a PCN Contravention:  52M – Failing to comply with a prohibition on certain types of vehicle (m) motor vehicles.
Place –Imperial Rd SEbnd - NW of Fulmead St

I was driving down Imperial Rd to access Fulmead St and into Maltings Pl to park and visit a friend. I am not from London and was unaware of the restrictions in the area. I was following satnav as I don't know the area but to get to his street I had to drive partly down Imperial Rd as you can see on the video, I then turn right on to Fulmead St just after the video ends and then park in Maltings Pl.

This is my first offence and was wondering if anything can be done.

Yep I know satnav can have its problems but just driving around London is already a nightmare even without it and having some guidance to get to my location is needed for me.

My friend doesn't have a car but did warn me after I arrived about the camera's and on how to get out and return again as I stayed 3 days. I think I did see the sign but I had seen 3 before it while trying various routes to actually get there since like you say it is like a fortress to get in without passing these signs. I thought surely they can't block every street and make it impossible to get there and that this last sign was so close to my location that these signs must be for just after my right turn. When driving down here I had seen that Bagley's Lane was restricted and so when looking at the map the only other way on to Fulmead Street was from Bagley's Lane from the south which I thought would be a restricted road according to the first sign I saw. When in actual fact as my friend told me Bagley's road is split by a barrier now and so Bagley's Lane north is restricted but Bagley's Lane from the south is not!

For someone that does not know the area then it is very confusing.

For the next 3 days when driving in and out I took a specific safe route that my friend told me to get in and out of the fortress, So I did obey the rules from then on once I knew. 

The safe route in and out was of course much longer and much slower with lots of stopping on small roads to let cars though as parked cars blocked most of the roads. So if this is to have "clean air" and be more green then it just caused the opposite as my car is running much longer and blocking the roads and traffic for everyone that lives along the "safe" route. I'm guessing the main reason is to make the council money from new drivers.

Is it worth submitting these representations to the council?
