PCN for Mistyping Registration in PayByPhone App
« on: »
My wife mistyped the car registration in her PaybyPhone app when parking. She immediately wrote to explain this but they have still refused to overturn the ticket. Even though she obviously paid for parking at the time. What is our best course of action to get this overturned?

If you didn't know it already, London councils are venal and rapacious when it comes to parking and traffic contraventions, and refuse virtually all informal representations. The do this to make lost of money because they know that if they refuse all reps, most people, like >95% just cough-up. Even at the discount, councils get many millions from this practice.

You could wait for the Notice to Owner and submit formal reps, but at this point, the discount option has gone. Of course they may re-offer it when refusing for the second time. The problem is that the reason your wife got the PCN is down to her error, not the councils. Yes they got the parking fee money, but as I said they are venal and also ruthless.

Others may have alternative views, so wait a bit.

She got one letter wrong, it starts MT and she put MR, basically. Does that make a difference??

The silliest part is, the parking she actually 'paid' for was free anyway, since she was under an hour and it's free for that time. Daft.  ;D

Ah, then she has got a credible appeal to take to London Tribunals on the basis that no fee was payable, even though she had paid. Of course this means foregoing the discount, but a win is more likely than a loss, I think, but wait and see what the others say.

The PCN please.

We need to see everything pl. Also, would you post a GSV and their photos.

Considerations: wrong traffic sign; wrong contravention grounds etc.
