I  drove from A118 Romford road and entered Tennyson road. At the start of road, On my right hand at the start of road is a sign with parking restriction No parking Mon-sat 7am-7pm(I parked on a single yellow line.) Since I was parked there on Sunday 11 Jan 2026, my understanding was that no parking restriction apply. I received a PCN by warden( contravention code 01)

I appealed to Newham council and today it was rejected stating that it was an event day West ham Utd vs Queen Park Rangers at London stadium and event rules apply.

There was no advertisement for event day, secondly I have no interest in such an event, so how will I know there is an event. Lastly there is a residential parking bay with restrictions and clear instruction about event day parking rules. The signage for single yellow line does not provide any instructions that the event days rules will apply on single yellow as well.

I don't agree with their decision, and I am advised to either pay reduced price of £80 in 14 days or go to london tribunal if disagree.

It's an a controlled parking zone so single yellow lines are restricted according to zone entry signs.

There is some success with Newham at the tribunal. I'm of the view that their signs are defective as they don't qualify that events days can be Sundays. This applies especially to parking bays with their own signs. The zone signs have next event dates but how you're supposed to note this on a busy road in what is often a large zone is an issue, and the zone signs also don't mention Sundays.

These are the signs you will have passed.
