Hounslow, code 47 stopped in a bus stop, Commerce Road
« on: »
I parked a coach at a bus stop (I was doing a private hire pickup nearby) and received a PCN. Normally, coaches are able to use bus stops but I guess that's not the case in Hounslow. The image provided by the council shows a sticker on the sign; is the sign still enforceable?

Also, the colour of the vehicle is wrong on the PCN but I assume this is immaterial?

Yes, but much depends on the size of the bus stop area and the maintenance of the carriageway markings.

Yes, totally immaterial

Please look at this GSV view telling us exactly where you parked.

The bus stop is 27 metres long, so the presence of only one sign by the shelter can be criticised.

I parked at the end of the bay where the dropped kerb is. I deliberately parked far from the signpost because I wanted to keep the area clear for the local bus route.

'Normally, coaches are able to use bus stops'

Your understanding regarding whether as a general rule you may park at a 'Bus Stop' is wrong, I'm surprised you think this as I would have thought that if you have a PSV licence this would form part of the learning/test:

“local bus”
a public service vehicle used for the provision of a local service not being an excursion or tour.

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2016/362/schedule/1

The sign is clear: prohibition exempts 'local buses' only.
