Southwark, code 01 Parked in restricted street, Amelia Street
« on: »
Hey people need a little help,

Last night, I parked on the single yellow line right in front of my house on Amelia Street because I couldn’t find a space in my designated resident parking area. I do have a resident permit, but there were no spots available at the time.

Due to a rough night with my baby and a rushed morning getting them to nursery, I unfortunately forgot to move the car back into a proper resident spot. I’ve attached photos showing the location.

In addition, I do believe that there has also not been clear and enough signage, I have followed through and retraced my journey by bike where where I drove driven into Amelia Street via the following route: Albany Road → Thurlow Street → Flint Street → Rodney Road → Heygate Street → Walworth Road → Amelia Street. Along this route, no CPZ entry signage was visible at any of the access points into the zone. The only Controlled Zone sign present is at the start of Albany Road, approximately 2.26 km from Amelia Street, which is not sufficient to alert motorists to the restriction when entering the CPZ via other roads. I recorded my journey by bike on my iphone as evidence to support the claim of little to no signage.

Google Maps Location:

Youtube Video to show lack of appropriate road signs (7mins long fyi).

What can I do to challenge this PCN?

When you retraced your jouney on your bike, are you sure you crossed the actual boundary of the CPZ you parked in and then got a PCN ?

Yes, I did the exact route as I did by car, I've attached the youtube video link to this post and in the very beginning of the video you see the CPZ on the right hand side.

Having reviewed the video a few times I am unable to see any other CPZ, I've also re-traced this via google maps streetview and there is just one CPZ as per my youtube video, right at the beginning.

You live there and have a permit so you are well aware of the CPZ.

Best approach is to try for discretion - is this the first time this has happened?

There are "known knowns" which we may never have wished to know. This applies to them. But in the field the idea that there are also "unknown unknowns" doesn't apply as they hide in the aleatoric lottery. I know this is true and need to be prepared knowing the "unknown unknowns" may well apply.
