Hello all, I selected location code on the RingGo app and got a PCN for it. It was a little bit misleading because it had named some roads where it can be located but you can still park in that whole section which is why I got a bit confused and I thought it wouldn’t matter because it’s all on the same stretch of road.

I’ve already appealed it, but do I have any grounds to re-appeal before I pay it tomorrow?

I parked on Oxford Road in Reading towards town. I use the locator on the RingGo app to see where was the closest to park. It showed me three different location codes.

They all said Oxford Road but slightly different locations because it was showing on the map that that was almost exactly where I was standing. I chose that one to park. I then returned back to my car to see that I had a ticket.

I sent an appeal in advising that I did pay for the parking and the location code was slightly wrong, but they rejected my appeal.

Please post the PCN. Do not redact car reg and PCN number.

It is always best when using pay-by-phone apps to check with the local sign before making payment. These tend to be stuck onto the side of the ticket machine, or where it is PbP only, on a sign by the bay.

There's no location code on the sign and no instruction you can pay by phone but obviously RingGo is available.

I'd say you are entitled to rely on what the app says if the geo-location says Oxford Road.

You were by the machine though but the code is on the machine not the parking sign.

This is what it said at the time. All 3 locations said Oxford road.

The parking code is different but the geolocation showed this was the closest one.

Do I have a case to fight this?

Post their rejection.

The receipt does provide more info on location - Howard St to Bedford Rd - what is the Maps location of where you were?

But rejection on a slightly wrong location code with no loss to them is now fairly standard and breaks their duty to act fairly.

The traffic order could tell us more.

What is the traffic order?

The road is slight further down the road.but right next to it

She appears to have been parked pretty much where the grey Fiat 500 is - https://maps.app.goo.gl/gaMXiFBTP8LkUJS6A - on the bridge over the IDR.
Not that this carries any weight in law, but I've lived on the Oxford Road for about 27 years, and I didn't know where Howard Street is until I googled it (next turning on the left from the location of the OP's car).

That said, from where he was parked, she should have been able to see the location sticker on the side of the machine in her driver's side wing mirror.

I am responsible for the accuracy of the information I post, not your ability to comprehend it.

I see you posted the rejection. They saying your session was not valid.

I can see red route orders on their site but the one that covers Oxford Road makes no mention of telephone/electronic payment for pay bays.

In a later one for east Reading we see:

31. Upon using a Telephone Payment Parking System to leave a Vehicle in any Parking Place as
specified in Schedule 8 of this Order, during the Permitted Hours, the Driver of the said Vehicle
shall be required to provide the following information:
a) the make of the Vehicle that has been left in the Parking Place; and
b) the colour of the Vehicle that has been left in the Parking Place; and
c) the registration mark of the Vehicle that has been left in the parking place;
d) the location code of the parking place which is identified on the traffic signs within the parking
place;

e) the time duration required to leave the Vehicle in the Parking Place.

32. Payments made using a Telephone Payment Parking System or an Electronic Payment System
apply only to the Parking Places associated with the provided location identification number.

Which tells us that the code should be on the parking sign.

But whether this is worth punting the extra £25 I'm not sure - if it were me I'd have a go. They must be reminded that they choose to use RingGo and they have a duty to act fairly where there's no loss over a footling neighbouring location issue.

It’s the one that says 9435 2nd to last phot you uploaded.

What should I say to them in the challenge to try and fight this ?
