Enfield Cound PCN 52M Montague Gardens Width Restriction
« on: »
Came across this charming width restriction the other day
Street View

I happen to drive a 4month old BMW X7 which is exactly 2.0m wide according to official spec.  Was trying to visit a friends house in the area for the first time.

Due to the "imposing" kerbs and annoyingly sized bollards made split second decision to go around this in the oncoming lane as there was no traffic and was therefore much safer and faster than trying to squeeze through and judge the 5cm gap either side to perfection.

Just received a 52M "failure to comply with prohibition of motor vehicle".

Any thoughts on possible way to appeal. The next day I did drive very slowly through a similar 2.0m wide restriction - that had sensible kerbs and no horrible chunky bollards though.

I would challenge anyone in the council to get a 2m wide SUV safely through that gap without damage!
