Dart PCN - A282 southbound
« on: »
Hi all, this is the first charge I have received in the post. It is possible that one has arrived to a previous address prior to this as I have recently updated the address on my driver’s licence.

I was not aware of crossing the dart crossing otherwise my wife and I would have settled the nominal £2.50 charge. I was about to appeal when I found this page. Any advise would be most helpful.

Thank you

I have recently updated the address on my driver’s licence.

What nmatters is when you updated the address on your V5C. Updating your driving licence does not update a V5C.

I suggest you contact DART to see if there are any other outstanding PCNs, so as to avoid the penalty increasing by 50% and also bailiffs eventually knocking at your door.

I have to say I'm astonished you missed the DART Crossing, because it has been around since the 60s and has always been tolled. The only new thing was the conversion to on-line tolling instead of toll booths.

Well this is something new, to me at least.

The PCN saya that they'll accept the £2.50 charge in settlement as it's a first contravention. You have until close of business on the 3rd Septemebr to pay.

I'd jump at the offer and get that done PDQ. Don't leave it to the last minute in case the website or payment system goes down.

+1. And the OP will pay this nominal amount because they said they would in their post.

As for 'It is possible that one has arrived to a previous address prior to this as I have recently updated the address on my driver’s licence.', this doesn't make sense because the PCN dated 19 Aug. must be the first one- hence their offer- and the OP's got it without, according to them, having changed their V5C address recently.

Thanks everyone. I didn’t realise they were offering that… £2.50 paid and case closed.

That's good, I've usually found the Dart Charge people easy to deal with. BTW, there's huge blue signs placed on the M25 and the crossing approaches telling drivers to pay dart charge online by tomorrow, and other huge blue signs inform the driver of the amount.
Bus driving since 1973. My advice, if you have a PSV licence, destroy it when you get to 65 or you'll be forever in demand.

I’ll look out for these. I have no recollection - must’ve been on autopilot.

Yes, you need to look out for far too much these days. All the congestion and emissions zones are on-line payment, plus some other toll bridges like the Runcorn Bridge.
