Bristol CAZ PCN Not received
« on: January 10, 2025, 04:47:58 pm »
Hi all,

I know that I drove through the CAZ on December the 17th and then forgot to pay the daily charge.

I've been waiting for a PCN to come through and it's been almost a month now, is this normal?

I'm worried that they will treat this as failing to respond and issue a larger fine.

I've emailed CAZSupport@bristol.gov.uk to ask but don't hold out much hope and trying to get through on the phone is almost impossible in my experience.

Thanks in advance.

Does your V5C logbook have the correct address.

Yes, all the relevant info with the DVLA is correct and up to date.

Is the vehicle hired or leased ? Postal PCNs are sent to the name and address on the V5 Registration Certificate, so if hired/leased the hire firm will get the PCN which they can then submit that they are a hire firm and give your name and address.
If it's not this, then is your V5 for the vehicle up-to-date ?

For a CAZ postal PCN, you have 28 days to pay or submit reps. Discount option is for 14 days from date of service (date you receive it, but you have to prove it if over 2 days). After the 28 days they can serve a Charge Certificate which adds 50% to the PCN penalty. HOwever, nobody on this forum need pay that because if you don't get  the PCN there is a process to get back to it.

Nope, the vehicle is owned outright and the V5/C is showing the correct address.

I'm still within the 28 days as far as I can work out but can't really do anything without the PCN letter.

Am I going to have to wait until the Charge Certificate is issued and go from there?

You could ask Bristol if they have sent a PCN to your reg. number. You don't have to admit being in the CAZ. Many posts on here are for late arrivals of PCNs, and the Christmas break must have a lot to do with it, plus the turmoil in Royal Mail.
