Barnet, Prohibited turn, N12 London
« on: »
Driver was caugnt on camera while entering a parking space on the wrong side of the road. The PCN has been sent to the company that leases the vehicle. Not sure if there is anything that can or should be done? Would appealing be of any use? It was a genuine mistake but camera shows the vehicle is on the wrong side of the road. The picture where it is clear that the vehicle is going in the wrong way does not have the reg on it. There is one with the reg on it but not as clear cut. Any suggestions?

The driver has no role in the process unless also the owner. You need to find out what the arrangements are for the lease company receiving PCNs. Some just pay them and off-charge, with, (needless to say), and "admin fee", while others submit reps against the PCN and give the name and address of the leasing party on the contravention date. The first PCN is then cancelled and the council send a second one to the named party.

the leasing company is asking the driver to pay. Can he ask the PCN be sent in his name?

Only if the leasing company submit reps against the PCN, naming you as the lessee on the date of the contravention.  There is a process to go through. They should not be merely asking you to cough-up; there is a process and they need to follow it.  Of course your lease agreement may have a clause that says you must pay all PCNs the lease company receive.

The leasing company sent a letter as written authorisation for the lessee/driver to contact the Borough directly regarding the fine. Does this mean they will resend and reset it at the original 65 pounds? Thanks!!!
