53J Warrington Road Croydon
« on: »
Hello,

I received this PCN a couple of days ago for driving down Warrington Road in Croydon. I was directed by a satnav and didn't notice the signs, partly due to the parked cars along Epsom Road, where the turning was.

Someone else posted recently saying they'd done the exact same thing and received the exact same penalty, noting that the signs are hard to see because of the trees: https://www.ftla.uk/civil-penalty-charge-notices-(councils-tfl-and-so-on)/croydon-code-53j-pedestrian-zone-warrington-rd-by-epsom-rd/?topicseen

This is the PCN:

Here is the location from Google maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/oV17A8srcetYB3n88

I also went back and took photos of the signs in the area:

I would appreciate any advice or help. It also seems that this restriction was only put in place recently:

Welcome. Please go onto the website AS IF to challenge and screenshot the page and post it here.
I REGRET THAT, FOR THE PRESENT, I AM UNABLE TO TAKE ON ANY MORE CASES AS A REPRESENTATIVE AT THE LONDON TRIBUNALS. THIS IS FOR BOTH PERSONAL AND LEGAL REASONS. PLEASE DO NOT PM ME UNLESS YOU HAVE POSTED YOUR THREAD ON THE FORUM AND I WILL ATTEMPT TO GIVE ADVICE.

There are "known knowns" which we may never have wished to know. This applies to them. But in the field the idea that there are also "unknown unknowns" doesn't apply as they hide in the aleatoric lottery. I know this is true and need to be prepared knowing the "unknown unknowns" may well apply.

Nope: first page which is BS:

Click your reason or search for it below
I wasn't aware of the rules
I was picking up/dropping off a passenger
it was an emergency
my satnav misdirected me
using cameras to catch drivers isn't fair
this is a hire car - the hirer should pay
Search all reasons

Here's the page and yeah most of these reasons are BS and they'll never cancel a penalty for them. The main reason I was there was because of my satnav

There is plenty of time to compose a considered draft.

Is there anything in particular I can say that would give me a chance of getting this cancelled?

Post all pages of the PCN pl.

As regards: 'Is there anything in particular I can say that would give me a chance of getting this cancelled'

..by the council....not a chance IMO. Therefore your only option would be to take the matter to adjudication with the full penalty in play and an argument based upon the visibility of signs(those marking the entrance and the warning sign) and technical procedural points related to their representations procedures.

Hi, just bumping this up. Are there any specific points I can make in an appeal - regarding either technicalities or the visibility of the signs? I'm not sure I want to take it to an adjudicator and risk paying double, but if there are strong grounds I'd consider it. Otherwise I think I'll have to pay the 65 before the 14 days run out.
