Hi I am hoping to get some advice about a parking fine that was issued to me 09/09/23 in Durham. I parked, walked to the parking metre I saw that was approx 5 parking bays away from my car. I opened the Pay by Phone app and it registered the parking metre. I paid for parking and on return to my car I had a parking fine! I appealed in good faith explaining that I had use the app and had purchased parking, I sent photos of the parking metre that I used, my car and the location to the parking metre, screenshots of the parking receipt too. Yesterday the appeal was denied. I could not understand this at all, I had genuinely paid for parking in the location that I had parked. It was only after looking into this even further I realised that the Pay By Phone app had automatically registered a location code and it was the wrong code! I did not check as I was standing beside the parking metre as I paid for parking, I did not see any other parking metre. The denial report said that I had parked at The Elvet, in Durham, but had paid the charge for The Avenue and it is a difference of 0.50p per half hour. I parked and paid for two hours! I am feeling so frustrated and annoyed about this. I had no idea there was another parking metre in the vicinity, but regardless I relied on the app and that has been a huge error. I have appealed again and as I realised what has happened I have added this information to my challenge to the appeal. I have also messaged Pay by Phone but they said it was my responsibility. While I understand that, their app should be correct. Is there anything at all I can do? Thanks in advance.

I'm not clear on what happened.  Are you saying that the PbP code on the ticket machine you stood beside when using the app, was not the same as the one used by the app ?  I use this app, and one can enter the code directly, or using the map facility, pick the one required off the map display.
