Thankyou very much. sorry can i query something. i was picking up my child from school today, i pulled in opposite the entrance to the school to adjust my mirrors as i couldnt see, its double yellows. and this lady screamed, and i mean screamed at me, she threatened me, took photos, and said i didnt know the highway code. for a start i wasnt parking there, it was horrendous weather and i couldnt see properly, but regardless, can someone tell me the rules. its opposite the entrance, not on the same side as the entrance , so i actually thought i could park there. i just want to know for reference.

@nicnncha please keep separate topics in seperate threads, I've split this one out for you.
Was "
this lady" a civil enforcement officer or just some random lady?
Double yellow lines mean "No waiting" at any time, so the fact you weren't "parked" is irrelevant.
You shouldn't need us to tell you the rules, that's what the Highway Code is for.
666 that is not true , I have a disability badge, so you can park on double
Yellow lines. I just would like to know the rules please. It was just a random parent. The point is I wasn’t parking, we have had horrendous storm here, the school is busy. I couldn’t see properly so I pulled in to adjust my mirror and as I was about to take off she started screaming at me, I was literally seconds adjusting my mirror. She really upset me, and it wasn’t called for.
But my partner pointed out that other cars with disabled badges have parked there. So I don’t know the rules
If it was just a random member of the public, forget about it as nothing will come of it.
I do know the rules, that you can park on yellow lines, yes i said that. What i wanted to check is can you park on double yellows, opposite a school entrance when there are no signs to say you can't, it isnt obstructing anything, there are not zigzag lines, no pedestrian crossing, nothing on the curb. I cannot see a clear answer to this, what the actual highway code states. Ive never parked there myself, nor was intending to, but Ive been to the school today, and 4 cars parked on this section with disabled badges. This lady told me i could not, and i would like to know what the correct information is.
Drove all the way to school where I stopped on double yellows to adjust my rear view mirror ?
No matter, if the only restriction is the double yellows then a BB holder can park on them, with BB and time clock displayed at correct time...for up to 3 hours.
If some nutter wants to rant about it, they ought to read the highway code.
Likely to be a resident who is fed up with the school run and people parking wherever... or another parent who jumped about the DYLs, difficult to tell with people these days, they get all excited about anything.... and then tell all about it on Facebook.
