My partner just called up asking for advice, and I never really gave this scenario much thought.

Scenario: On a "typical" two way street, they parked on one side where it states "1 hour. No return within 2 hours" which is self explanatory in that you can't just drive around the block and re-park at the same spot for another hour.

But, if they drove and then parked on the opposite side, would that be OK? I always thought that signs are only applicable to the side it is situated at (exception of 1 way streets).

I mean, if both sides of the street had the same "1 hour. No return within 2 hours" sign, does it mean they can park 1 hour per side, or just 1 hour for the entire street?

Thanks in advance!

In general, you're right, but we have a case going now where the OP moved the car down the road, because the time limit was up, and it was not return in one hour and the new bay was actually out-of-sight of the previously occupied bay, but still got walloped for returning within one hour.

I'm watching this one because you cannot be expected to read each TRO for everywhere you park, that seems absurd.

Watch this space, we'll have "TRO References" on signs so you can read through the 50 pages of TRO every time you park.  ;D

in London there are many cases where both sides count as the same location and the location number is clearly posted in the signs

My partner just called up asking for advice,

Does this involve a live PCN?
