Introduction 1.1 Environment and Traffic Adjudicators are independent judicial office holders. They are appointed by the statutory joint committee, the Transport and Environment Committee (TEC), with the consent of the Lord Chancellor. One of the Adjudicators is designated the Chief Environment and Traffic Adjudicator and acts as the judicial head of the Environment and Traffic Adjudicators.

Neither the JCIO nor the Judicial Ombudsman will address a complaint as The judicial office holder is required to be the holder of an Office listed in Schedule 14 to the Constitutional Reform Act 2005.
