Hi everyone,

I’m in a bit of a pickle and could use some advice regarding a speeding ticket. On 28th July, my brother was caught speeding by a fixed camera on the M25 motorway (junction 23-22, anti-clockwise) in Hertfordshire at 9:46 AM, doing 81mph in a 70mph zone.

He was visiting me in London at the time for a family gathering, and since he is insured to drive any car as a third party, he was driving my car to pick up a family member. I’ve already nominated him as the driver in response to the notice.

However, I’ve come across some information online that’s left me a bit confused. It seems that in Scotland, they don't offer the speed awareness course option and instead issue penalty points and a fixed fine right away. My brother’s registered address is in Scotland, and I’m concerned this might affect whether he’ll be eligible for the course here in England.

Can anyone clarify if the location of his license registration in Scotland will prevent him from being offered a speed awareness course in England? Will the local rules apply, or does it depend on where the offense took place? Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance for your time.

Where he resides should have no bearing on whether he is offered a course or not, it's where the offence is committed that matters.
