Sorry but that is lodd of codswallop. Someone (might be at your company, might be at leasing company) has likely supplied the wrong name to the police. The police can only work with the information they are supplied.
You have been given good advice on how to deal with this.
I thank you for your advice and I have taken it and done what I think is the right action, I have notified the Police of the mistake, I can not change who made it or help them if the police decide to punish them. But I have been straight up and honest and will take the consequences.
