Apparently I was caught speeding on the 28th August 2024 at 86mph in my goods vehicle…there is photographic evidence I cannot dispute as I would have been on the road that day
However, I flew out to Peru for a month on the 29th August 2024 and returned 2nd October 2024. In that time, my partner would have been collecting my post.
Received and SJP today...dored 30th Jan 25 but I've never received an NIP nor chaser letter in my mail…my confirms he gave me all my mail (which is collected in a black post box at the front of my house) from when I was away, so as far as I am aware…I received no mail nor chaser and would have been unaware of this offence as I was in Peru the day after…
Whilst I was away he was actively keeping an eye on my mail as he was actually looking out to pay on my behalf, for a previous offence committed on the 30th July(I had already responded to that particular NIP) …which he paid for me on 15th September, so he would definitely have been looking out for mail from the police.
We have WhatsApp messages about the mail at that time as he let me know he'd received a letter on the 31st Aug for the previous offence.
They apparently sent the NIP on 3rd Sept and chaser on the 13th Sept whilst I was in Peru
Unfortunately I already have 9 points on my license accrued last year, for exceeding my vehicle class…losing my license would mean losing my job as a carer and teacher…so I am terrified right now.
I know its hard to prove I didn't receive these documents but I do believe my partner would have put these aside for me, if not opened them due to the other documents he was keeping an eye on.
I've received a single justice procedure notice and don't know ow whether to please guilty or not guilty…or where to go from here.
