Hi all,

Allegedly I was doing 60 mph on a 50 mph on M11 Motorway, near Luxborough Lane Road Bridge, Chigwell, Essex.
3 points plus £100 fine.

Any way to avoid the penalty point? Get a court hearing and Reason with judge?
What are the likely court charges?

Thanks

Moan and groan and may be just may be prior to hearing they might drop (very unlikely I know).
My insurance renewal is in 2 months time so may be I can avoid getting penalty point prior to this by taking court route.
How much are the likely court fees?

You have no defence, so you will be found guilty. Prosecution costs start at £620. Plus an income-related fine, and a surcharge of 40%.

BTW if you have a clean licence at the moment, three points will probably have little or no effect on insurance premiums.

I don't quite understand. On what basis would you "moan and groan"? And any moaning and groaning you do is not likely to see the case dropped.

All you can do is to decline any out of court disposal and opt for a court appearance. Even with a guilty plea, it will cost you probably at least three times the fixed penalty (depending on your income). Endorsement is mandatory (unless there are "Special Reasons" not to do so, which you haven't mentioned) and three points is the minimum.

Just out of interest, have you already received the offer of a fixed penalty? Have you done a course within the last three years?

If everyone could get off by moaning and groaning, how many people would be convicted of speeding?

As intimated, your best chance of avoiding points is doing a speed awareness course unless you have done one in the last three years (offence date to offence date).
There are motorists who have been scammed and those who are yet to be scammed!

Yes did the speed awareness course last year, so no getting away from it.
My only reason to prolong was to take it until after my next insurance renewal which is at the end of May.
But from the replies here it transpires that the court fee\cost will probably be more than what I would pay in increased premium so will throw in the towel and accept 3 point and £100 fine.
Thank you for all your help guys.
This forum is wonderful.

btw is there any way to receive automatic email to my post when someone replies?
and also if there could be a location for me to see all my topics or a search option by just the user id (without needing to put a string in search section) will be great.

Thanks once again.

Most insurers require pending conviction to be notified anyway.

On any reply there is an attachment and other options tab. Notify replies is in there. Quite where it will be in your view depends on your dwvice and settings.

You can find you posfs by viewing your orofile. Same caveats.

So the answer to both is "yes" but you need to press a few buttons to find it.
