Speed offence 5 months ago - split from hijacked thread

I am in the same position, caught speeding but hadn't updated the V5 and the previous owner was abroad until last month. I now need to respond to the NIP, but the original date of the offence was 28/05/23 and so I will leave it until December to reply.

Which option would be the most suitable to reply with to allow it to time out?? 1a Speed Awareness / 1b Fix Penalty / 1c Court Date?

1d Start your own thread rather than hijacking someone else's (now split so this is now moot).
1e Leave out half of the information needed to provide a meaningful response.
1f If it has already timed out by the time you reply, how does one option allow it to time out and another not?

There is no time limit for the police to offer you a course or a fixed penalty.

What is the date on your "Section 172" request for driver's details?

Hi and apologies for the hijack...

The date on my NIP is 10/11/2023, date of alleged offence is 28/05/2023 -Is this the information you were asking for @NewJudge

The original NIP would have been sent to the previous owner who was abroad at the time.

Yes thanks. Just check to make  sure your response is received as you can be prosecuted for failing to provide the driver's details up to June next year.

Is there a recommended option that I select on the response?

1a Speed Awareness
1b Fix Penalty
1c Court Date?

If I do then receive a COFP, can I then ignore that next letter or should I also respond to that and decline the offer?

No. None of them.
You are required to provide the driver's details.
You are not required to select a bullsh*t disposal for a timed out case (or even if it was not timed out).

This does not change based on the number of times you ask the same question.

Thanks for your previous advice,

Everything has gone as expected, I send off the information confirming my details, and I received a conditional offer of a speed awareness course in January which I ignored. And I have now received a COFP, dated 31/01 with 28 days to respond...

Is the right advice to stay the course and not respond as the offence is now over 6 months old? Did I read somewhere that it can be worthwhile to reply and decline the COFP with a covering letter explaining why I won't accept the offer?

It was too late for them to prosecute 5 weeks ago. Other than accepting the COFP, which would be spectacularly stupid, nothing you can do will change that.
