I was driving back from a desert shop about 1am on a Sunday with two of my friends. I passed by a notorious street racing area as i was heading home.
I got pulled over by an undercover officer. My license plates are slightly modified with an illegal spacing. They put me in the back of the police car and said to me that my license plates are illegal and im getting a £100 fine. I agreed and signed the device and i asked if im able to drive home with these on . The officer said yes if you go straight home. He handed back my keys.
I got back in the car and was driving straight back home. however 3-4 minutes after i had been pulled over again. This time the officers pulled me over i told them ive just been pulled over and he said it doesnt matter youre not allowed to drive with those modified plates unless theyre changed. I told them that the officer before had said i can drive home straight away and its on his body camera. He said thats the officers problem and then he proceeded to charge me with the following offenses.

He then seen that my car had modified exhaust tips ( quad tips) and said he will contact my insurance on the following monday and confirm if my modifications are declared.
He also seized my modified plates saying that he will seize them to the DVLA.
After listing all the charges he asked me to sign the device again this time i declined and he put down REFUSED. He said that the court will use body camera footage to prove of this incident which i said id rather that because i feel as if it was unfair.
Im unsure on what to do and what will happen. Has anyone been through something like this and can give me some advice? Thank you
