Speeding ticket but it wasn't me
« on: »
Hi All

I got a speeding ticket today and it wasn't me and it's not my car although near enough identical.

The car in question is a citreon c1, they must of cloned my number plate. Looking at the pictures provided the only differences are that the car in the picture doesn't have the "c1" badge on the boot door and the exhaust is visible where as mine isn't. I've replied online saying that i have never been to the area in question and that i was working from home at the time (12pm). I have a feeling this is going to be a long winded process.

Any advice please?

They aren't asking where you were, what matters at this stage is where the car was.

By 'ticket' I assume you mean a NIP and s172 request. You must reply to that - an email isn't enough.

If you're absolutely certain it's not your car, and not a number mis-read, you need to report the cloning to the police and DVLA. When you reply to the NIP give them details, including the crime number if you get one.

Yep it is a 172 request. It allowed me to login to a website (MET police) to view the images of the car in question. It allowed me to respond on the website and i stated that i did not know who the driver was and that the car was not mine.
