Contesting a 35mph in a 30mph

Has anyone on here contested a 35mph in 30mph with success?

Area Leigh Sinton, Worcestershire, 3rd highest collecting camera in the country, cash cow comes to mind & not for the safety issue as attended.

Reason camera placed at the beginning of the village directly on the 30mph signage out of a 40mph.

My photographs show I'm braking after entering the village only showing that I would have been driving at the 30mph speed limit after this unfortunate blip, through the whole village.

I have looked at this from all angles but looks impossible to challenge, even though I've been offered a SAC.

Would appreciate advice or thoughts on what i feel is a very unfair penalty before I accept this get out clause,which BTW affects my license for 3 years if the sane happens again, where I would the receive points. Very unfair system.

I do not go out of my way to speed & this was lack of concentration for less than a minute in a sleepy village in Worcestershire.

A SAC does not affect your licence for 3 years.

If the signage is in the correct location then you don’t appear to have a defence, fair or not.

Regarding SAC, I think it does indirectly as IF I was to be caught again unfortunately in a similar, what I call unfair situation. I would NOT have the option to do another speed awareness course & would have to start accepting points on my licence?

The limit begins at the sign. If you decline the course offer (and if there is time), the police will offer you a fixed penalty (£100 and 3 points). If you don't take that offer they will prosecute you. Based on what you say you will almost certainly be convicted and you are unlikely to see any change from £1,000.

The problem is, if you were allowed (say) 100 yards more to slow down you would then moan that it was unfair if you were caught speeding 101 yards into the limit. And so on.

Just a point of pedantry - you will not have to "accept" points on your licence. They will be imposed whether you accept them or not.

What you are saying essentially is that you should not see any action as he offence was too trivial. You have already been given a leeway of 4mph. The course offer is effectively a "warning" (although it will cost you about £100 and a few hours of your time). You believe you should be allowed to keep this warning "in hand" in case of further, perhaps more serious transgressions. It doesn't work that way.

You could check the actual definition of the speed limit areas, make sure the sign correctly marks the change in limit.

Thanks Newjudge, yes unfortunately I'm aware.

Thanks Tony, yes I have been back to voyeur the situ & the signage is unfortunately correct. Or do you mean they add 10% & some. As I've heard in the WestMids.

As I was riding with a traffic police officer the other wk on an observation ride (motorcycle) who tried to speed me up in a 40mph limit, which I refused to do, whilst he flew past me at 46mph +, obviously no cameras in the area & sorry that's not my box. Normally try to stick to speed limits without plus some...!

I think being given a 'chance' without directly impacting your licence as 'fair'!

If you get caught speeding again then you will start to accumulate points.  Not sure what's 'unfair' about that...

Thanks for all your comments but the reason I came on here is to see if anybody had tried to contest this kind of thing? Not a judgement on my opinion! If anyone has or has any advice to do so, then would be most appreciative. Otherwise, I wouldn't be here, as I can understand the basics, thx for pointing them out. Which I'm sad to hear some think perfect. I expected a little more from this site to be honest.
