Mislaid s172 offer
« on: »
I got caught on a speed camera back in January just outside East Grinstead, 36 in a 30 driving a bus. My employer quickly passed the matter over to me with a s172 notice. I filled that in and sent it back admitting I was driving. The ticket office sent me the form to pay up which i have mislaid! I don't remember keeping a copy, but trying to get it paid before the deadline which is probably this week. I can't find any contact details for the Sussex police speeding ticket office.

What's my best line of approach? I've looked onine but no hone number, and the online form needs the reference number which I don't have.
Bus driving since 1973. My advice, if you have a PSV licence, destroy it when you get to 65 or you'll be forever in demand.

Thanks for that Andy. In the 53 years I've been bus driving, it's the first time i've been nicked fr speeding in a bus.

On the A22 going out of East Grinstead the road is uphill, then dips slightly. With a full load of passengers, with it tipping down with rain, force 8 gale, the camera is about 100m beyond the brow of the hill. My time was better spent trying to see where the road was than looking at the speedometer. It was also close to midnight and there's some awful pot holes to dodge. 2 buses on that service blew out tyres on pot holes that day. I drive about 40,000 miles a year! Not to worry.

Most forces seem to insist on "licence details" (referred to in the legislation as "identification details") being provided separately to the penalty being paid. There seems to be a question mark over the legality of this requirement, but if you're just after a quiet life, it would seem prudent to ensure that it is complied with (if you haven't already done so).

Wait and see if the cheque clears, the helpful lady on the phone said she'd sent a reminder letter out, that I couldn't get an SAC as the last one was 2 years and 50 weeks ago! I seem to get nicked every 3 years, always late at night with nothing else around.
