Average Speed A10
« on: »
Hi All

My son was in a car last week and they got caught by a speeding camera. 46mph in 40mph average speed zone. They both drove the car it was his friends car and they were test driving. The evidence doesn't show much so its hard to tell who was driving. What should they do now? The friend has a NIP on his name. I think they have both been on speed awareness courses in last 3 years or less. Was a silly mistake. What could be done please?

Regards

Not your son’s problem. His friend needs to work out who was driving. Hopefully your son was insured to drive his friend’s car.

They've been friends for 30 years we do t want this nonsense ending that. I tried to do a Google location but can't work it out. Not sure how to advise

What they should do is determine who was driving. As they have not posted themselves, and you have not told us what they have done to try to determine who was driving, there's not much we can add to that.
I am responsible for the accuracy of the information I post, not your ability to comprehend it.

You may well see it as nonsense but it will end in tears if they cannot work out who was driving. If they don't, his mate will end up convicted of "failing to provide driver's details". This will mean six points, a hefty fine and an endorsement code which will see increased insurance premiums for five years.

The only advice you can give them is as above.

It seems the key bit of info for resolving this is location. Why can you not determine this? What is the exact location given as printed on the NIP? The A10 is a long road.

Presumably as two fully functioning 30+ year olds, with no medical issues, remembering where they changed drivers a week ago will not be a problem.

As they have been down this avenue before, they will know that shrugging their shoulders and saying dunno guv will see someone charged with a s.172 offence. I expect they know who was driving, or will as soon as they can determine the location.

They know who was driving the car. The friend drove north and my son south. The problem is it's not clear where the camera spotted them. I added links to the letter and location if it helps. Otherwise we will write to the police for more evidence.

The NIP says southbound (S/B).
