Any grounds for challenging two similar offences?
« on: »
My partner drove a family member to the  station and back  in a rush on Sat 25Nov, running up two identical speeding infractions at the same spot  within half an hour of each other.
The first ( attached below) clocks 27mph in a 20mph zone - the second ( not shown clocked at 26mph), same place.

Since we live near the spot and have been driving up and down the same road for decades with no problem, perhaps the equipment is at fault? ( which could be verified if there was a sudden increase in issue of speeding tickets on that day or nearby days, but how would one find this out? Is one allowed to ask? And if so who?)

Otherwise I would imagine there are little grounds to Challenge…

And finally does the second offence  ( at 8.58am - document not shown but identical to the first) mean the  option for a speed awareness test is not available a second time?

Partner should get the offer of an SAC if one has not been done previously (3 years).

However, were the two really in the same place or on the return journey? If the former then it's likely there is an admin error.

Rather then equipment error, the partner may have just been lucky, assuming the 20 limit isn't a new construct.

Thanks for your reply - attached is the second speeding letter. It is the return journey In the opposite direction about half an hour later.
It offers a Speed Awareness test like the first… but would this  be available after a first infraction so soon?

No, the system will only allow the booking of one SAC.
There are motorists who have been scammed and those who are yet to be scammed!
